Taking the Vision Further

Mike’s Bikes is not only sending bikes, but also establishing locally-owned Sister Shops in places like Botswana, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Kenya.

While just sending bikes provides temporary relief, without the right tools and training, it isn’t long before someone’s used bike becomes another country’s waste. With that in mind, the founder Ken Martin set out to create a new model of Sister Shops. Ken has traveled to Africa multiple times to establish these shops and train local owners about how to run a bike shop and more generally, how to run a business. This sustainable approach ensures the maximum benefit of the bicycle.
